RUSSELL CHADWICK SQUADRON 389 SCHOLARSHIPS
 

Russell Chadwick Squadron 389, Sons of The American Legion in Beverly will award two (2) scholarships of $500.00 each again this year (2016).  Applicants must be in their senior year or a past graduate from Waterford or Fort Frye High School.  Immediate family members of Post 389 American Legion Family members are eligible regardless of the school they attend.

 

Applications are available from the Guidance Counselor at both Waterford and Fort Frye High Schools.  They must be completed and delivered to the Scholarship Committee by May 1st.  The Scholarship Committee consists of one representative from each of Post 389 American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion.

 

One Scholarship winner will be selected on the basis of Merit per the following:  10% Character, 20% Americanism, 10% Leadership, 50% Scholarship and 10% Basic Need.  One Scholarship will be awarded based on Need consisting of:  10% Character, 20% Americanism, 10% Leadership, 10% Scholarship and 50% Basic Need.

 

This is the fifth year that Squadron 389 has awarded these Scholarships.  The Community has provided the Squadron with the opportunity to help local students through their continuing support of the various Fundraisers conducted throughout the year.  Continuing support is greatly appreciated so that the Squadron may continue to award these Scholarships year after year.

 

Besides the Scholarships, Squadron 389 Sons of The American Legion is dedicated to helping to support many other Charities and Community Programs.  They typically sponsor a delegate to each of Buckeye Boys and Girls State and donate to the Safety Town Program.  American Legion Programs such as Child Welfare, Special Olympics, Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, Children’s Miracle Network, Legion Baseball and Disaster Relief are also supported.   The Squadron is willing to help with virtually any Community Project that is deemed beneficial upon request.
